Structural Dimension – a Collection of Four Textiles by Suzanne Tick

The rapid growth of technological advancement and a continuous push toward mass production is causing manufacturers to overlook the unique visual and sustainable properties, and benefits of more intricate and hands-on textile production. Luum Textiles launches its latest collection ‘Structural Dimension‘ embraces and utilizes diverse weaving, felting, and knitting techniques to promote textile flexibility and performance. The collection is inspired by expressionist color palettes and shapes found in architecture.

Structural Dimension, a collection of four textiles by Suzanne Tick, encourages the exploration of a deeper vision of how spaces can be built – multi-dimensional structures and classic building materials are created using fiber and construction technology, facilitating a connection between users in the interior and providing opportunities for breaks from use of two-dimensional screens.

Simultaneously tactile and colorful, each textile in the Structural Dimension collection benefits from its unique weaving technique and awakens the subtlety of our senses using the dimensional craft of weaving. Dynamic color interactions emerge in woven form in Graph Speck, woven from pre and post-consumer recycled wool while the felted, soft surface of Full Wool materializes as wool fibers are closely entwined together, making the textile highly upholsterable, fire retardant, hypoallergenic and biodegradable. Dorothy Liebes-inspired Newkit evokes the tectonic structure of architecture through a combination of the soft hand of knitting and the stability of a woven fabric; and Impression’s complex weave structure and multi-color wrap setup create variegated, multi-directional movement. It contains partially recycled polyester slub yarns planted in the warp and weft direction to create an organic and dimensional pattern across the plane.

Highlighting the integral role textiles play in the overall dimensionality of a space, Structural Dimension functions as a fully integrated toolkit for upholstery, wrapped walls, screens, and direct glue wall applications.
