About Carlo Colombo

Born in Carimate in 1967, Carlo Colombo is today one of the best known and esteemed Italian designers both in Italy and abroad. Owing to his versatility, an extremely important quality, in his career he has worked and continues to work with many leading brands on the international design scene. To mention but a few of the many: Flexform, Flou, Poliform, Cappellini, Giorgetti, Antonio Lupi, Penta, Poltrona Frau and Moroso.

Receiving his degree in 1993 in architecture at the Polytechnic University of Milan, Carlo Colombo had already been collaborating with Giulio Cappellini since 1991 for whom he designed a bed that was presented at the Salone del Mobile in Milan the same year. From that moment forward, a series of important collaborations with the finest companies in the industry began for the Brianza-area architect.

Over the years, his design activities have touched on all areas, ranging from industrial design and residential interior design leading to urban architecture projects, overseeing corporate marketing and graphics and teaching design at the De Tao Masters Academy in Beijing. He has won numerous awards in his career, not the least of which was being named Designer of the Year in Tokyo in 2004, four International Design Awards from Elle Decor, the Good Design Award in 2009 and four Red Dot Design Awards. In addition to these impressive accolades, Carlo Colombo is also an ambassador of Italian design in the world.
