JIŘÍ SVOBODA

He has always tried to find the easiest way to an impressive work of art. This is an approach he has followed since the beginnings of his career as a designer, which he had wanted to pursue since he was a child. He was fascinated by the design of light features even then – by the combination of glass and light, and the effect they can have in a space. With every object made of glass he immediately try to find a way of turning it into a light feature. He enjoys discovering new methods and materials, and likes producing technical solutions because these give a real shape to what was originally an idea.

Projects he is proud of:

• Winner of the ‘Combined Methods’ category in the ‘Craft and Art in Glass’ competition
• Drawings exhibition as part of FIGURAMA 2012 at Prague airport & Czech Technical University in Prague
• Participation in the second ‘Where’s the Glass’ exhibition at the ‘Malostranská beseda’ music and theatre club
• Participation in the “Product styling” competition held by Plastia, s.r.o.
