Hilton Bogota Hotel, Colombia

During 2018, a remodeling was carried out inside the Rooftop of the Hilton Hotel in Bogota, where 560 m2 of Bamboo X-treme deck were installed. Numerous events take place on this wonderful rooftop, where guests and invited guests can enjoy the beautiful views of the city and its impressive mountains.

When the deck was installed, the slats had a warm appearance with a dark brown tone. This color comes from the manufacturing method: the bamboo strips are heat-treated at 200ºC and subjected to a compression process in order to achieve the highest durability class, which greatly favors and helps being an outdoor space where all the time different types of activities are carried out, so we were looking for a material that had the durability to be under these conditions of climate and use.

The MOSO Bamboo X-Treme deck, provides multiple advantages in its application in the Hilton Bogota hotel: the exterior floor is avant-garde, made of 100% natural bamboo. A truly ecological alternative thanks to its rapid growth and unique hardness of tropical woods increasingly scarce in wood flooring. Bamboo decking is a natural material that can vary in color, grain and appearance. After 4 years of installation, that brown tone changes to a lighter color and the deck will continue to age to a grayish color as a result of UV radiation and exposure to weathering. However, the installation of the deck was used because it can be restored to its original shade again through simple procedures, which was a very important point within the project due to the use and the time it has to be done.
