Kishmish Restaurant, Dubai

Kishmish opened in Mirdif Avenue Mall in June 2023, is designed by YAMJAM Creative and fitted out by Truewood Interior Design Works LLC. The restaurant has a total of 104 seats across roughly 360sqm of internal and external dining space.

YAMJAM Creative initial design brief aimed to create a space that pays homage to our client’s Afghan roots while also creating a modern and elegant space that can serve a homey, comforting cuisine that revolves around the heart of Afghan traditions.

Taking inspiration from some key elements in Afghan architecture, the design of the space incorporates beautiful earthy textures, traditional patterned fabrics, and captivating curved arches within the interiors. The designers at YAMJAM Creative sought to share the client’s Afghan roots, culture and heritage through vivid stories, allowing their passion to shape every corner of the restaurant.

Every detail holds significance, from the entrance archway referencing original building finishes to the textured glossy green tiles adorning the kitchen, creating a culinary theater that pops, traditional rugs with their vibrant patterns and colors by the lounge area and the antique brass ceiling feature that adds a touch of grandeur. We have crafted a space that immerses you in the beauty of Afghanistan.

YAMJAM Creative have carefully chosen every element to narrate the rich Afghan heritage, designers have artfully integrated traditional artifacts such as aged rugs and decor items, alongside modern Afghan inspired furniture and finishes.

The choice of these details draws inspiration from the earthy tones and captivating textures inherent in Afghan design, creating an immersive experience that transports guests to the heart of Afghanistan.

A beautiful green Afghan inspired patterned fabric takes center stage, weaving a story of Afghan culture throughout the space. Its intricate motifs and vivid hues pay homage to the country’s artistic traditions. This fabric, thoughtfully combined with supple dark brown leather, compliments the surroundings of warmth and comfort.

The fusion of these materials not only creates a cozy and inviting atmosphere but also tells a tale of the harmonious tradition paired with and modernity within Afghan culture, echoing the very essence of our design.
