About the project
Steven Leach Group renovated and remodeled Microsoft office located in Beijing, China on the 18th floor of the Microsoft building in Beijing’s Haidian District, spanning 5,670 square meters across the 4th, 5th, and 6th floors. The focus of this remodeling was to create private and secure office spaces for engineers within Microsoft. The design also prioritized high accessibility while incorporating Chinese elements into the space’s aesthetics. This was achieved by contrasting “Modern Beijing” and “Traditional Beijing” concepts using similar shapes and different materials. Notably, installation art and a wood wall with a “mortise and tenon” concept at the entrance were used to integrate Chinese elements and showcase traditional craftsmanship. The result was a functional office space that met diverse needs and was celebrated for its inclusivity, innovation, and functionality.
