About the project

In the pursuit of a design philosophy aligned with the essence of traditional Chinese culture, Sheng Yongxing’s Lujiazui branch in Shanghai emerges as a vibrant testament to Eastern attributes. Designed by Wang Daquan and Wang He, the space resonates with tranquility and color, akin to a bright moon rising after meticulous research and analysis. The integration of a courtyard into the Grade A office building deftly blurs the boundaries between interior and exterior, creating a harmonious blend that reflects the cultural fusion of North and South, East and West. The restaurant’s interior, enriched with elements of traditional Chinese culture, stands in equal strength with the surrounding courtyard, creating a powerful atmosphere that encapsulates the spirit of Sheng Yongxing.

Living and breathing in its beautiful realm, Sheng Yongxing Lujiazui welcomes guests to an everlasting and unceasing experience. The courtyard, adorned with a tower of fire, mirrors the changing seasons, creating a dynamic and flourishing environment that attracts diners seamlessly. Collaborations between Wang Daquan and the lighting design team add a richer artistic expression through light, seamlessly blending space, light, food, and service. Sheng Yongxing’s four years of Michelin recognition reflect a balance between self-expression and innovation, aligning with the philosophy of simplifying complexity, discarding the false, and preserving the true. This philosophy, deeply embedded in both brand and space, signifies the mutual achievement of cultures and the growth of a unique culinary experience.
