Inside Spacewell Interiors

Love That Design had the pleasure of experiencing D&B firm Spacewell Interiors’ newly refurbished space in Dubai Business Bay, where key team players explained the company’s mission, work ethic, and concept behind their unique agile workspace.

Having firmly established themselves in the regional interior design industry in the last eleven years, Spacewell Interiors could be described as a hybrid design and build, and consultancy provider.

“While we are a young company by comparison, our team has a collective experience of 35 years,” says Maneesh Nambiar, Executive Director of Spacewell. “Most importantly, their knowledge and passion, and the ability to understand the clients’ needs, allows them to perfectly transform their design onto the site. And that is what makes us so unique.”

The company has delivered close to 1000 projects within the UAE, and specialise in creating ergonomic, sustainable and cost-efficient workplace design. “Our comprehensive range of services include everything from concept design and project management to turnkey, fit-out, and contract furnishing,” says Maneesh. “Our aim is to create a healthy workspace for the wellbeing of the personnel.”

A Brand New Showroom

In the heart of Business Bay sits Spacewell’s newly refurbished showroom, designed to showcase their unique co-working model to potential clients.

Kern Richard Parangan, Design Director at Spacewell, explains the concept behind this agile workspace. “We looked to the ancient art of Origami for inspiration,” he says. “Origami is the art of folding a piece of paper into a decorative figure or structure, and the scope is endless. We also believe that our designs and scope are endless, and this is what we want to relay to our clients.

Floor to ceiling glass offers an unobstructed view of the Canal while a clear pathway meanders through the various spaces that alternate between contemporary, minimal and fun and whimsical. A stack of cargo containers, for example, have been cleverly utilised for storage with the top most container offering a ‘digital detoxification’ zone to rejuvenate and recharge after a long day’s work.

Recent Milestones and Success in the Previous Year

“Last year, we delivered Mubadala’s 20,000 square foot office fit-out, which was a complete package – design and build, project managed and executed,” says Najid Nazir, Deputy Managing Director at Spacewell Interiors. “We also delivered Unilever’s Lipton office, now called ekaterra, as well as Huawei’s latest workspace. Huawei has been an ongoing account and on our roster for the past two years. Furthermore, we have consciously diversified our portfolio in an effort to expand our horizons in the fit-out and design and build sector.”

On the subject of their new space, Najid says, “I want people to visit our showroom, experience the products, and see first-hand how fit-out can be delivered. What you see here is exactly what we can offer in terms of our services.”

Driving Sustainability

“In UAE, we were one of the first few D&B firms to get our space LEED Platinum certified,” says Maneesh. “Sustainability is something very close to our heart. For us, it is a whole concept that is embedded in every process, from material selection onwards. We also push this agenda across to our partners, to ensure that they emulate the same philosophies we hold. By 2023, we hope to be WELL certified as well!”
