Kohler Unveiled Bold Immersion Experience at Downtown Design Dubai 2022
In its journey of almost 150 years, Kohler Co., a global leader in kitchen and bath design, has always strived to inspire through constantly innovating in the space of residential and commercial products. Now, Kohler has joined hands with Montreal-based Studio IREGULAR by sponsoring Art Studio’s one-of-its-kind interactive installation which was displayed at the Downtown Design from 9th to 12th November 2022, in the form of a minimalistic geometric structure named CONTROL NO CONTROL.
Making a front-and-centre statement at Downtown Design Dubai, the masterpiece was§ an LED cube that reacts to everything that touches it and every movement performed on its surface. Streamlined patterns and generative sounds emerged as interactions occured. Allowing 48 people to participate at the same time, the experience was extremely intuitive, like most of Kohler’s products. A socio-digital experiment, the piece explored the relationship between participants and interactive installations. It tested the artwork’s ability to intrinsically instruct and delegate the final audio-visual result to the audience which ends up gaining control of the piece.
