Outdoor Living for Magical Summer Evenings

Elegant, comfortable collections to live those unforgettable moments outdoors with well-being in mind

Now that summer’s finally here people are naturally more inclined to spend time outdoors, relaxing and having fun. The urge to travel is back too – to physically experience those places we’ve been dreaming about for months. Summer 2021 brings with it a new-found sense of optimism and a desire to get away from it all. So, making the most of open-air spaces is crucial, especially at this moment in time when the great outdoors has become more important than ever. The terraces at bars, hotels and restaurants, or domestic spaces such as gardens and patios, must all make people feel at ease and reflect the identity of their surroundings.

There’s a definite new way of living, inhabiting and sharing spaces. And furniture has the power to encourage socialising and interaction, by creating little oases of comfort within the home and offering functional and versatile spaces in public areas.

Pedrali offers solutions that blend design and functionality. Its outdoor products are designed and made to guarantee the user’s wellbeing, featuring first class technical performance and aesthetics. Manufactured using high quality materials, they are guaranteed to resist weather conditions, as well as being durable and easy to clean. Chairs, lounge armchairs and sofas give a fresh, elegant touch to their surroundings. They are characterised by comfortable forms and recycled materials, hand woven polypropylene cord, and soft, water-repellent cushions.

With their distinctive style, the brand’s collections have been chosen by designers to furnish outdoor locations all around the world. Aqua Drink in Restaurant in Reggio Calabria, was designed by the architect Nick Maltese from the Milan design practice N+M. This little oasis of great food and relaxation has a Mediterranean feel, and a soft colour palette of sorbet hues. Overlooking Lake Garda, Biagioni Bistrot is on the lakefront promenade in Salò and is the ideal spot for those unforgettable evenings with friends. In a mountain setting, the hotel restaurant Moosegg in the Swiss town of Emmenmatt offers its guests stunning views over Langnau and Emmental, as far the Berne Alps.

Panarea by CMP Design

For all three of these exceptional locations, the natural choice was Panarea, designed by CMP Design: a new collection with the accent on colour, style and elegance. The armchair and lounge armchair feature a handwoven element, crafted in Italy, made from polypropylene cord. This gives the chair a three-dimensionality and graphic rigour, as well as making it lightweight and easy to move. The lounge armchair comes with a wide seat and a high backrest whose curvature traces a virtual, circular space of relaxation and conviviality.

Comfort and practicality are enhanced by the cushion in dry-feel polyurethane foam that dries quickly, covered in fabric made from the same yarn used for the woven element.
The inspiration behind Panarea recalls the colours and refreshing breeze of an outdoor dinner on a sea-facing terrace; as such, the collection is right at home on the patio of the Boutique hotel Villa Fiorita in Taormina.

Reva Twist by Pedrali

High up on the cliff-top, this early 20th-century residence built in the traditional Taormina style is a truly enchanting place. Guests can relax while sipping cocktails and admire the endless seascape: views stretch from the water lapping the beaches below as far as the coast of Calabria, visible on clear, sunny days. Another protagonist of this space is Reva Twist, the elegant new three-seater sofa designed by Patrick Jouin. Here, the collection is truly in its element: soft lines and generous dimensions evoke a relaxing dreamy, summery ambience reflected in its very name.

The four tapered legs in die-cast aluminium are placed at the extremities of the perimeter frame in extruded aluminium. The steel backrest and armrests are woven with a flat rope in polypropylene, which is weather-resistant while offering a more natural appearance. This padded sofa is made even more comfortable by soft cushions that rest on the frame, for a relaxing and comforting feel.

The magical, picturesque setting of Santorini is home to the Maregio Suites by Fotinos, an intimate hotel with stunning sunset views over the Caldera. When it came to furnishing the communal outdoor spaces and the terraces for the suites, the hotel opted for Remind polypropylene armchairs. Their silhouettes convey the creative energy that inspired the collection’s designer, as well as blending harmoniously with the style of this romantic island.

Designed by Eugeni Quitllet, Remind is a collection with the focus on embracing comfort; it draws on the soft curves of wooden chairs of the late 19th century. The chair and armchair are made from polypropylene, featuring harmonious lines and lightweight yet solid material that make it particularly suitable for outdoor use. As of October 2020, Remind also comes in a version made entirely from recycled material: 50% from plastic material post-consumer waste and 50% from plastic material industrial waste.

Another design from Eugeni Quitllet, this time inspired by the world of sailing, is Soul Outdoor. This collection has a strong aesthetic appeal created by the beautiful contrast between curved aluminium and teak, with flowing, sinuous lines.

Tribeca, designed by CMP Design, is a true outdoor icon. It is inspired by classic Sixties patio chairs, reinterpreted with new materials: a solid tubular steel frame paired with the elasticity of a profile in vertically woven plastic material that is remarkably durable, easy to clean and colourful. Known for its summery, sunny character, the Tribeca collection fits into exceptional locations such as the Enigma Suites in Santorini, a refined Boutique hotel perched on the cliffs. The hotel’s chic, modern interior design blends harmoniously with the charming island-style architecture, then there’s Leon’s Place in the heart of Rome, a Boutique hotel in the Planetaria Hotels chain, which boasts a “hand-painted” garden furnished with Pedrali pieces. This visionary space is ideal for sipping a drink on balmy summer days or enjoying a coffee break literally on the clouds. Tribeca chairs, armchairs and sofas adorn the panoramic terrace on the tenth floor of Urban Cube, the new headquarters of Gruppo 24 Ore in Milan. The project was designed by Park Associati, with interior design by DEGW | Lombardini22. Seemingly suspended between earth and sky, the terrace is sheltered by a canopy and recalls a hanging garden, where the colours of the materials and plants interact with the light.

The Nolita collection by CMP Design, is made entirely from steel. Its simple, iconic forms make it perfect for social occasions.
It was chosen to furnish the outdoor areas at Villa Soligo, a charming hotel in Valdobbiadene which has restored a prestigious 18th century mansion to its former glory. The hotel’s guests are met with modern elements within a cosy, elegant setting.
Sublimis is a Boutique hotel housed in a 19th-century Ligurian villa on the Golfo Paradiso in Camogli. On its terrace perched high above the sea, guests can sit back and relax in Nolita armchairs, in the shade of large, leafy plants.

Nolita also furnishes the La Centrale bistrot on the new SDA Bocconi School of Management campus in Milan, designed by SANAA architects. La Centrale is managed by Compass Group Italia with the brand AD Arte Food. It is open to university staff and students, and guests from off campus too, who can also come and eat there. The bistro features ample interior and exterior spaces, with large windows around the perimeter. It offers an all-day service, with meals served from breakfast through to lunch and evening drinks.

Situated in Porto Cervo, set among rolling hills and immersed in the Mediterranean scrub, the famous Pevero Hotel is a tranquil haven of peace. Featuring sophisticated modern interior design, and just 250 metres from the beach, Pevero Hotel represents the perfect balance between tradition and innovation.
The hotel is framed by an emerald-green sea, dramatic cliffs and bright white sandy beaches, all crowned by the classic colours and scents of the Mediterranean landscape. Intrigo armchairs designed by Claudio Dondoli and Marco Pocci furnish the hotel’s restaurant Le Piscine, which serves breakfast and light brunches.
