Reorganizing and Restimulating the Brainstorming Session Through Furniture

Gone are the days of piling into a conference room for a brainstorm session that ultimately results in one idea on the whiteboard and three more meetings to “flesh out the objectives”. Today, the goal of a meeting room should be to reshape the “performance” collaborative space and build an actual location where people want to work together.

With the understanding that the traditional long table with chairs and solo TV layout is no longer a fit for today’s worker, Teknion is identifying how furniture can provide users adaptability and choice rather than a static landscape. So what’s the solution?

“Smaller rooms with moveable, lightly-scaled furniture offer one or two users a quiet place to work, plus the ability to reorganize the space as needed,

Soft seating, area rugs, and lamps add comfort and a residential tone departing from the formality of a conference table. Larger rooms permit a mix of applications and postures, allowing groups to split into break-out sessions.”

says Steve Delfino, Vice President of Corporate Marketing and Product Management at Teknion

By reactivating the conference room, employees will want to use the conference room to brainstorm with coworkers because they are no longer constricted to one layout that, let’s face it, sucks out creativity. If you are interested, I would be happy to connect you with Steve Delfino to discuss this concept further.
