Bob King founded Humanscale (www.humanscale.com) in 1983 and has since served as the company CEO. Humanscale is the leading designer and manufacturer of high-performance ergonomic products that improve the health and comfort of work life. Their product range includes high-performance seating, task lighting, monitor arms, medical carts, and height-adjustable desks. In addition to designing with a
focus on function, simplicity and longevity, Humanscale is committed to making a net positive impact on the earth as well as its customers. While headquartered in New York City, Humanscale maintains an international presence with 21 offices in North America, as well as locations in the U.K., France, the Netherlands, Italy, Singapore, Hong Kong, Dubai, India, China and Mexico. Humanscale’s manufacturing facilities are located in Piscataway, NJ; Fresno, CA; Nogales, Mexico; and Dublin, Ireland.

Over the years, King has been recognized for his contributions to design and the environment. I.D. Magazine selected Humanscale as one of the 10 most innovative companies worldwide in their annual issue celebrating individuals and organizations that “drive design.” In 2006, TIME Magazine singled out King in “Who’s Who: The Eco Guide,” in an issue focused on green living. And in 2011, he received
the Museum of Arts and Design 2011 Visionaries Award in recognition of leadership in design and commitment to environmental sustainability.

In line with this commitment to sustainability, King has initiated efforts with WWF to restore the once-rich ecosystem of Eastern Cambodia, an area suffering from intense poaching and inadequate government efforts to protect the remaining wildlife. The initiative is preserving a diverse ecosystem, home to Asian leopards, elephants, wild cattle, deer and especially, tigers. These efforts will potentially increase the worldwide tiger population by more than 5%.

King holds a Bachelor of Science in economics from Boston University and an MBA from Columbia University.
