About Burkhard Schmitz

Prof. Burkhard Schmitz studied with Nick Roericht at the Department of Industrial Design at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin and then worked on product development Roericht in Ulm. At the beginning of the 90s, he already held a professorship for Interaction Design at the Fachhochschule Schwäbisch-Gmünd. With a reputation for professorship at the UdK he moved back to Berlin. There he and his partners found the Berlin
Design Bureau 7.5 , which realized classic, multi-award-winning product design for well-known customers such as Wilkhahn and Herman Miller. In 1993 he installed the project group ID5 for interactive systems at the institute for time-based media, which he has headed since 1993.
