About Elena Salmistraro

Product designer and artist Elena Salmistraro lives and works in Milan.
Elena graduated from Milan Politecnico in Industrial Design in 2008 and in September 2009 established her own architecture and design studio.

She works as a designer and artist for a number of companies in the creative industry, including Bosa, Seletti, DeCastelli, B—Line, Bitossi Home, Yoox, NasonMoretti, Okinawa, Massimo Lunardon, Texturae, MyHome-Collection and Durame and also collaborates with Art and Design Galleries such as Camp Design Gallery and DamArte.

Her creations are the result of an intermingling of art and design. Attention to detail, the search for harmony in shapes and her poetic style are the distinguishing features of her projects.

Research into the expressive language of an object enabling it to captivate people and evoke their emotions is one of her priorities.
Her projects have been selected for some of the most high-profile exhibitions including: The New Italian Design, a travelling exhibition organised by the Triennale Design Museum in Milan curated by Silvana Annicchiarico and Andrea Branzi, with stops in San Francisco, Santiago de Chile and Cape Town; “The New Aesthetic Design” exhibition hosted by the Triennale Design Museum at the 2013 Shanghai Biennale and at the Gwangju Biennale, South Korea, in 2015.

In 2016 she took part in the Triennale Design Museum’s ninth edition of “W.Women in Italian Design” held during Milan Triennale’s XXI International Exhibition “Design After Design”.
