About the project
For the new Caesars Palace in Bluewaters, Dubai, KCA International were asked to create something completely different and ultra-sophisticated, something that would set new benchmarks for hotel design in the region. Their approach was to redefine contemporary luxury without compromising on five-star quality. The design ethos placed emphasis on contrasting atmospheres between dawn and dusk, providing a memorable experience for guests.
The designers consciously moved away from the usual kaleidoscope of colours prevalent in hotels in the region. Instead, they brought the beach inside the hotel in terms of a palette of stone and sand. Special attention was given to the application of their chosen materials. An understanding of textures, whether hard or soft, and a good balance of tone and shade, provided them with a powerful formula for a distinctive end product. As we know, lighting makes or breaks any interior. As much as possible, concealed sources of lighting were used with tireless co-ordination with mechanical and electrical consultants to facilitate hidden linear grills and down lights in slots. Only decorative light features that were part of the interior styling were exposed making them unique features to be appreciated. The minimised decor allowed one to appreciate the volumes of the spaces with double and sometimes triple height ceilings.
