About the project

In the heart of Berchem, a suburb of Antwerp, Dieter Vander Velpen Architects transformed the once lively Euro Sweets candy factory, dating back to 1919, into a 550-square-meter loft-like space. Preserving the industrial charm of raw concrete and original floors, the architects established their office on the second floor, cleverly utilizing the space as both an office and a multifunctional venue. The renovated building, featuring kreon fixtures, pays homage to its history while looking towards the future with improved energy performance and plans for solar panels, creating a harmonious blend of aesthetics, functionality, and innovation.

The interior highlights the carefully integrated kreon fixtures, contributing to the mysterious James Bond atmosphere. The lighting, tailored to technical details and weathered bronze accents, plays a crucial role in the vintage-inspired interior that combines industrial and luxurious elements. Dieter Vander Velpen Architects’ collaboration with kreon not only ensures an optimal working atmosphere but also creates a unique space that seamlessly blends old and new, raw and refined, historical and modern in their innovative office building.
