About the project
This adaptive reuse project created a new office environment inside of a 1950s warehouse. It elevates Garney’s brand identity while modernizing their workspace with a more collaborative and tech-enabled atmosphere—allowing a transition from a workplace dominated by private offices to an environment with 90% open offices and meeting space. Design by Gould Evans
Garney Construction specializes in large-scale water infrastructure construction, so their space was designed to support their “boots on the ground” culture and draw inspiration from the concrete pipes that are at the heart of their business. The most unique element of the new space is the transformation of three concrete water pipes into collaborative meeting booths. Weighing 18,000 pounds apiece, the pipes are arranged playfully amongst informal seating near the front entry, highlighting the core of Garney’s business and communicating an office culture that combines gritty determination with a fun-loving passion for what they do.
