MRM Store, Dubai

MRM is a prestigious retail store in Dubai’s Emirates Towers that markets extraordinary jewellery, accessories and other paraphernalia relating to H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashed Al Maktoum. The brief was to create a luxurious simplistic design that would befit royalty and provide a stylish backdrop for indulgent branded merchandise.

Kart designers limited the choice of materials to two luxury finishes. Monochromatic marble and brushed bronze accessories form the minimalist display units. Deep fluted carved marble forms display shelves. The brushed bronze display forms harmonious accents in the form of floating shelving, hanging rails, freestanding units, and accessories. The display units are all discreetly back-lit, accentuating the simplicity of the design.

Along the main wall runs low block ledges that provide ample display space. A floor to ceiling fluted marble feature projection wall provides the central exhibition with inset shelving. The circular jewellery display case is in a marble cocoon. The ring pendant lamp and hand weaved floor rug accentuate the spherical nature of the overall display. The discreet cashier’s counter and the central column is of the same design and represent a waterfall effect. Bronze stripes cover the upper section of the counter and the column; the lower section is simply brushed bronze.

The minimalistic design allows for a sense of luxury whilst providing a subdued stage for the extraordinary collection of lifestyle merchandise. The optimal use of space allows merchandise to be displayed effectively and highlight the sophistication of each product was a remarkable success. By using economic air conditioning and lighting systems, Kart reduced the consumption of electricity to an absolute minimum. The design is clean, simple and elegant. It provides a perfect and very fitting backdrop to effortlessly present unique merchandise that celebrates H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashed Al Maktoum.
