About the project
Nourish is the brainchild of two Emirati cousins, born and raised in this very community. Their vision for Nourish is to be the first holistic ‘healthy concept’, where the healthy food should not compromise taste and satisfaction. Nourish believes in enjoying healthy food in a beautiful environment.
‘Nourish’ wanted to have a classy look with desert feel, an idea that resonates with them, a feeling of connection that is very welcoming and appealing. The new branch located in Last Exit Mall, Khawaneej, Nourish is more than just a restaurant.
The aim was to create a lifestyle experience from the very entrance of the restaurant to the skylight space which opens on the backside. The new nourish design is undeniably unique and incredibly warm and welcoming. The entrance façade is uniquely designed with tempered glass sandwiched with fluted acrylic sheets creating a 3D effect along with sleek brass trims adding to the elegance and beauty. Most of the materials used are natural finishes in muted color palates, allowing the little details to stand out. Soft light filtering through the 3D wall panelling helps creates a cosy ambiance.
The flooring remains subtle with raw concrete epoxy, contributing majorly to bringing out the elements of wood and green throughout the whole space. The brass inlay at the entrance ties all elements together creating a unique entrance feature.
Wood prevails, Second to greenery, both in color and nature. The huge green moss wall in the skylight area punctuates the space, bringing an uplifting fresh essence to the interiors. The use of Plants and wood for the interiors contributed to this very brief received from the client. “Nourish is about living a balanced life.”
The term Nourish, which literally means “to nourish,” was the major inspiration for the design. Also, the ‘Nourish’ emblem, which incorporates the two leaves, encouraged us to include greenery in Designsmith‘s design, which would provide a fresh, vibrant, and extremely relaxing atmosphere when used in muted color palettes with natural finishes. A muted color palette would offer a sophisticated appearance with a desert vibe and create a unique outlet. From the restaurant’s entryway to the skylight area on the backside, the goal was to create a lively and soothing vibe.
Main feature is the open bar with the suspended display. The bar counter front has cladding with a fabric upholstered panel in fluted design to flow through the fluted element used throughout the interiors. The bar counter together with the display integrated with soft lighting creates a central feature of the restaurant. Another main feature is the green moss wall that punctuates the skylight area, it helps in providing an invigorating new and fresh feel the the interiors.
The floor majorly contributes in bringing out the elements of wood and green throughout the space as it is raw concrete epoxy. Out of all, the challenge in this project was to design a space in a narrow layout while also keeping the vision of Nourish intact. The design seeks to create a calm, orderly space, where everything goes together. Another challenge to have in mind was the circulation of a narrow and angular space like this, and not compromise on design and idea of Nourish that aims to attract health-conscious customer’s that are looking for healthy food, offered in a beautifully unique and convenient surrounding, to make an aesthetically pleasing, visually impeccable design that releases all the stress and awakens the senses of the diners.
