About the project
Yangzhou, celebrated for its historical affluence and enduring charm, epitomizes the essence of a leisurely life that distinguishes itself amidst the bustling world, as beautifully captured in the Song Poetry “Slow Life in Yangzhou”. The city’s unique identity is embedded in its tranquil lifestyle and the scenic beauty of its gardens, notably the Slender West Lake. This picturesque site, a mosaic of gardens within gardens and unfolding scenes, offers a serene retreat where architectural marvels and natural beauty coalesce, offering a tranquil experience that embodies Yangzhou’s spirit of solitude, dreams, and grace.
Over time, Qu Yuan, a prominent garden on the banks of the Slender West Lake, has become a testament to the city’s evolving charm, blending the historical with the contemporary. Today, it not only preserves the rich cultural heritage of Yangzhou, including traditional Pinghua storytelling and the vibrant daily life of its people, but also introduces modern elements through innovations like “Qu Yuan Plus” and its indoor garden exploration. Spearheaded by Chen Wanqing, a pioneer of modern Huai Yang cuisine, and the design ingenuity of Liu Daohua, these additions infuse new life into the garden, creating a harmonious blend of classic and contemporary, where tranquility and dynamism coexist, offering a refined cultural experience that continues to define Yangzhou’s unique appeal.
