About the project
The Palm is considered both a coastal and city location. Radisson Beach Resort Palm Jumeirah responds to its context in terms of scale and orientation. The architecture is designed to be understated, contemporary, yet urban with a beach resort palette. Intentionally designed in an L-shape with staggered balconies, it maximizes the sea views and natural light.
Radisson Beach Resort Palm Jumeirah has various design elements that highlight its unique design. Upon arrival, the central spiral staircase links the lobby to the pool bar and infinity pool on the first floor, making a vertical association in the double-height entry space. Music, casual chatter and the smell of the fresh ocean carry through the lobby connecting guests instantly to the beach upon arrival. The staircase is clad in light grey plaster with timber steps that tie into an interactive café before leading to an open-plan lobby space with seating clusters.
The materials focus on tonality and texture. LW Design has included seamless terrazzo flooring, rounded travertine tiles, rattan details, raw wood slabs, open grain timber-wall cladding, soft linens and textured plains to create an authentic resort experience. Each light has rattan detailing to allow patterns that decorate the ceiling and flooring with shadows. Accent green walls act as live artwork in the serene resort experience creating a design language that is free of ornament and effortlessly stylish.
The main contractor was Bhatia, an experienced general contractor. Various subcontractors had the opportunity to participate in the project and showcase their work. ARKI interiors fitted out the rooms with particular attention to detail paid to the joinery to ensure its smooth functioning in a limited space.
