The Villa Chanel, Dubai

The Villa Chanel fulfils the Moroccan clients’ brief of tranquility incorporated with Chanel-inspired elements and colors. As a result, the house instils a contained, calm and intimate family atmosphere.

Initially the villa was a very dark and brown space, with just columns and a rugged floor. It was a ring around the court that was not explored at all and we decided to utilize it as the center of the house redesigning it into a beautiful entry.

The concept encompasses the theme of a timeless contemporary taste along with biophilic elements. In the communal spaces, the courtyard opens to the living area; dining area and the kitchen bringing in a concept of everything centered around the courtyard. The space also has a huge skylight feature (ceiling window) bringing in a lot of light, and a large bonsai olive tree (definitely to bring in good luck) in the center, surrounded by white Italian marble. Designed and renovated by Smart Renovation, we believe that the courtyard garden is the key architectural element and the center of life to this project. And so, it’s undoubtedly the favorite space to the power-couple designers Marco & Cinzia Tedeschi!

As the name suggests, the colors used in the villa, including elements like lighting and floor of the villa are inspired by Chanel. The living room characterized by wooden furniture includes huge windows to maximize the flow of natural light, offering dramatic views over the pool and the landscape garden.

As part of the renovation, the living space was further extended. The sheer grey with classic white walls and wall panels (moldings) created a classic character and a decorative way to hang picture frames. The onyx champagne tiles add warmth to the interiors, inviting guests to a visual and sensory treat. The aesthetics follow from the living space, from white, and transition into deeper hues (dark grey) as we move to the kitchen.

The kitchen is well appointed and versatile. The contemporary furniture and fittings were sourced from Italian brands and selected carefully with the client. It can function as a “family” at-home cooking experience or be closed off for formal catering with large sliding doors. The kitchen incorporates elements in black like the sliding door that match the counter top and the lights. Further down, the dining room opens to a beautiful chandelier above the dining table that adds a touch of luxury to the space.

Further down the living room, we installed a panel with brass elements behind and on the TV unit giving it a picture frame aesthetic. The panel was carefully selected to match the brass frame of the TV which can also become one with the wall décor when switched off.

Though the powder room is the smallest in the house, it has the potential to pack a mighty design bunch. At Smart Renovations, we call the small bathroom ‘the bag of the house’. Just like the season’s newest bag, it is the perfect design accessory to the rest of the home. As interior design experts in Dubai, we know that the powder room is where you should be focusing your inner diva. In this powder room we have used the colors black, brown, brass and gold to give an elegant touch to the space. The tiles chosen are dark Armani that make a bold statement and a bold sink in brass.

The stairs leading to the 1st floor, is a mix of ivory and light grey to match the laminated floor in light grey tone with a large ceiling to floor chandelier. The master bathroom is a luxurious space, consisting of tailor-made cabinets, vanity and accessories from Bagno Design. We installed different mirrors, with backlit LED around the mirrors and niches. The master bedroom encapsules the full floor, including the master bathroom and the welkin-wardrobe. The stairs bring a unification to the master bedroom, master bathroom and a walk-in wardrobe and also bringing all 6 rooms in a closely-knit fashion.

When creating our homes, our lives have to be in balance when we consider the expense and work to every budget. Our ethos at Smart Renovation is rooted in enduring quality and self-expression. This precisely enabled us to bring light, colors and character to an otherwise dull dark and brown interior of this villa. The project renovation brought an entire new look for the interiors and renovated the existing villa with few extensions.
