Horizon Pack Office, Mumbai

Horizon Pack is a family owned manufacturing company for packaging material, essentially cardboard boxes etc . Their brief to Alcove Design Consultants  was to upgrade the working style of a firm that has long been used to an orthodox working environment.

The space has been planned with a mix of closed cabins for the directors, enclosed cubicles & few workstations in the open office. Use of glass has been maximised for visual connectivity & penetration of sunlight into the space. The reception area has wooden rafter ceiling & wall panelling evocative of the corrugated material of cardboard boxes. The furniture is simple with a clean line, with little pops of burgundy upholstery in the chairs.

The individual cabins hold a work desk along with a small meeting table all finished in veneer. The MD’s cabin has hardwood flooring done in a chevron pattern. The work desk is a bespoke walnut wood table with a credenza to match. A large walnut wood shelf display holds books & artifacts. Wall cladded in blue silk panels adds a touch of elegance.

The meeting & conference rooms are well equipped with video conferencing equipment. The walls hold the art collected by the family over a period of years. Fabric panels add splashes of colour into the neutral palette.

The open office has white linear workstations with blue (brand colour) fabric panels. Cardboard boxes & its shapes are used as environmental design, whether it’s the company values printed on boxes of various shapes or little cardboard boxes as leaves of a tree (origin of the material). The ceiling is mostly a modular grid for the open office & cabins with linear lights.

The pantry is a cheerful space with a chevron striped wall graphic in yellow & grey. The ceiling is an open cell metal grid with pendant paper lamps. There are two large 6 pax tables with composite marble along with a high counter as dining surfaces. The display rack showcases some beautiful dispenser bottles & crockery.
