About the project
The Architect wanted to use Skyfold for the savings in floor space, sound control and ease of flexibility. There was a concern regarding competitive bids on a public project so a performance specification was issued.
The Skyfold walls are located in the Children’s Story Time areas where sound control and sound absorption were crucial. The architect wanted to use the same bright colors as were used in the murals on the walls – creating a bold and cheery space – using 4-different colors and located on various panels in block-like patterns.
As a true testament to the acoustical capability of the walls, library personnel overheard explaining to some visitors that they turned on a “boombox” on one side of the wall to test the effectiveness of the Skyfold walls and were unable to hear the music playing on the other side of the wall.
