About the project
Peyote DIFC, Dubai is the first Mexican-themed restaurant at the Dubai International Financial Centre Gate Village. It involved the conversion of an existing bistro to a modern Mexican bar & restaurant. Considered the first of its kind, Peyote DIFC features Latin American materials such as stone, clay tiles, timber furniture and textile looms.
The project included the complete demolition of the existing Wheelers Restaurant FOH area, including the toilets, and construction of the new joinery. The major highlights of the reconstructed Peyote DIFC include rope and wood veneer in ceilings; timber Herringbone and tiles for floors; timber veneer, bronze mirror and David Pompa feature tiles for walls; and bespoke timber and marble for the joinery units and bar counters.
Designed by Sordo Madaleno Arquitectos and executed by Al Tayer Stocks, the new joinery comes refurbished in harmony with its new theme. The new restaurant comes with stone and tile floors, tiled and painted walls, featured ceilings, new FOH bar, new claddings to the external façade and new windows.
