The highly anticipated SBID International Design Awards revealed their 2020 winners in a joint virtual ceremony, celebrating the best of global product and interior design.
The highly anticipated winners of this year’s SBID Awards have been revealed! For the first time in 10 years, the category winners of the SBID International Design Awards were announced publicly online, alongside the inaugural SBID Product Design Awards winners in a joint celebration, championing the exceptional designers of interiors and the innovative products that go in them.
Now in its eleventh year, and despite the unprecedented challenges facing the industry in 2020, the SBID Awards managed a global representation with entries from a staggering 49 countries. All categories were assessed by panels of leading industry experts who looked out for outstanding examples of technical content and aesthetic creativity.
Interior Design Category
The Award winners for the interior design categories showcased incredible creative talents from the United Kingdom, Switzerland, United States, Dominican Republic, China, Malaysia, Hong Kong S.A.R., and Canada. With breathtaking interior projects from mansions and super luxury private villas to bold, budget-conscious renovations, as well as innovative commercial designs for retail, restaurants, offices and hotels. This year’s designs exemplified the ever increasing standards of the global interior design industry.
This year, the Overall Winner Award was given to Bluemoon Design for their project, A Hidden Betsuin, location in Hebei, China. Drawing inspiration from the traditional hot springs, gypsum and salt culture, the designers skillfully interpreted the warmth and modesty of the exhibition space using natural materials, such as wood, stone, hessian, bamboo and rattan. The interior design integrated local cultural elements with modern design techniques, reaching a balance between Western calmness and Chinese elegance within a limited space.
