What Spanish Ceramic Giant, Porcelanosa can offer the Middle East

Porcelanosa transcends the label of a tile manufacturer; it is an influential force in the interior design landscape of Spain. In a conversation with Nuño Arcusa, General Manager of Porcelanosa Middle East, we explore their vision where tiles go beyond decoration to dominion. The brand’s approach is to comprehend design intricacies while proactively addressing supply-demand dynamics and serving as a transformative partner for designers.

Since its inception, Porcelanosa envisioned a journey beyond tiles – a vision to become a design and quality reference. Today, with four state-of-the-art production plants, producing 16 million square metres annually, the brand is a testament to perseverance, innovation, and commitment.

Porcelanosa Group boasts branches in over 100 countries in the world. Behind their impressive prowess is the simple act of delivering unparalleled products and services. “We are also considered a strong and robust company by consumers according to a study by the Reputation Institute”, Nuño makes known.

From kitchen and bathroom fixtures and fittings to technical materials and advanced construction solutions for contemporary architecture, Porcelanosa’s repertoire presents a one-stop solution for consumers.

And they are not just keeping up but staying ahead of the curve. Porcelanosa has diversified its product range to cover homes, workplaces, official organisations, and public spaces, offering materials and solutions tailored to each era’s evolving tastes and demands. “Product diversification has been a fundamental pillar in the growth of a business group that started solely manufacturing tiles,” mentions Nuno.

Nuño reflects on the brand’s journey: “From day one, our journey has been built on dreams, hard work, and commitment. As a forward-thinking company, we continuously analyse market trends. Our ability to anticipate trends lies in our commitment to investing in modern facilities, new technologies, and the latest machinery. This proactive approach positions us to meet evolving design preferences.”

Customisation: Tailoring Spaces to Perfection

Porcelanosa’s expertise in customisation is a significant pull factor. Offerings like the innovative Finish Studio by Noken, L’Antic Colonial wallpapers, Krion, colourful mosaics, and tintable mineral-based panels, the brand empowers designers to paint their visions with limitless colours and forms. “Finish Studio is the latest from Noken (Porcelanosa’s sanitaryware brand)”, Nuño educates. “It enables customisation of every part of bathrooms. Designers can choose the colour of the sanitaryware, the brassware finishes, hand-painted basins and even customise shower trays and bathtubs.”

Similarly, L’Antic Colonial is the Group’s arm for natural products. The Skin Wallpapers, for instance, reference neutral shades and native textures, enabling modern interiors to be informed by nature. On the other hand, mosaics presents designers with a range of dynamic tile options. Propositions such as three-dimensional shapes, iridescent colours and unique patterns could make any wall or floor a statement feature.

Krion (Porcelanosa’s Solid Surface sector) bolsters sustainability in its products from the get-go. Take the Fitwall® technology. It is a mineral-based decorative panel range that reduces the use of resin without compromising on quality or aesthetics. In fact, it possesses superior fire resistance and maintenance properties. Nuño proudly highlights, “With Krion, any shape is possible,” making Porcelanosa the go-to choice for crafting unique spaces.

Through Gamadecor, the brand produces three types of kitchens, making Porcelanosa versatile for various projects, whether hospitality, residential, or emotion-driven. Nuño adds, “This adaptability allows us to cater to diverse design needs.”

Sustainability Takes Centre Stage

The modern consumer places a premium on sustainability, and Porcelanosa rises to the challenge. Catchphrases like natural materials and sustainability are the pillars of their success. The brand commands designers to create with a conscience, proving that style and eco-consciousness coexist harmoniously.

Global Trends in Local Design

Porcelanosa’s portfolio aligns seamlessly with global trends, as Nuño Arcusa envisions the Middle East as a multicultural region echoing design influences from Europe and the USA. The brand positions itself as a design powerhouse, offering solutions that resonate with the diverse tastes of the region.

A Design Centre for the Future: Bridging Cultures and Trends

Porcelanosa’s Design Centre at Dubai Design District is a boon for designers, extending its role beyond a showroom to become a collaborative hub, offering valuable advantages. During Dubai Design Week 2023, the venue attracted design students and professionals alike.

Nuño Arcusa expresses the goal behind this initiative, “The Design Centre in the Middle East aims to bring our headquarters closer to the region, making our products more accessible to designers and architects. The vision is to promote the brand in the region and provide a space where professionals can freely explore our products for inspiration.”

In conclusion, Nuño’s parting words resonate – “We encourage designers and architects to consider our Design Centre as their own space. They can explore, use our products for mood boards, and find inspiration freely.”
