About the project
We live in a world that is fast evolving around us. A home needs to be a reflection where one can buffer themselves from the maddening pace of a metropolis life. The idea of embracing Hygge lifestyle of slow living was conceived as a starting point for this home. Its theme emphasises on cosiness, comfort, warmth, and togetherness. It is about enjoying moments that make us happy and relaxed. A distant contrast of what life outside in the city.
The philosophy of “slow living” teaches how to live well and that means with quality experiences verses fast and rushed disjointed moments of everyday life, a life lived with complete consciousness achieved by paying attention to details in all spheres of life and most importantly our immediate environment- our home!
The signature elements that come to define this style is through minimalist grey concrete walls, wooden floors, and modern furniture. The haptics in design are offered through texture and material contrasts; softer hues to create a sleek, modern feel. The colours are limited to neutral and monochromatic. Biophilic design is embraced by the use of plants and other botanicals to brighten up spaces and breathe life into a room. As the design is minimal in its approach, the focus on craftsmanship and thoughtful design by using treated wood in shou-sugi-ban (technique in charring of wood) or fluted panelling to create texture in depth or use of an exotic marble top are some of the design features to bring about this style. The design basks in natural light which is filtered well into the spaces. Art and the accessories selected further enhance the mood and ambiance of slow living embracing the hygge lifestyle.
