About the project
Designed and built by Casamia with Nulty Lighting, the concept behind the new state-of-the-art showroom was to create an immersive space for interior designers, architects, hoteliers and developers to experience world-class products.
The one-stop shop is made up of two floors with partitioned zones or room sets with distinct design styles, including a spa, hammam, barber’s shop and even a massage parlour. Visitors are encouraged to spend time in each zone to fully appreciate the products, materials and furniture that Casamia supplies. There are also numerous spaces where designers and clients can brainstorm and design their projects.
To showcase the ever-changing range of products, the architectural lighting design scheme had to be flexible and effective. The challenge was to devise a cohesive strategy for the entire store, whilst maintaining a separate mood for each individual space based on the design, as each space had its own unique requirement and outcomes.
Nulty implemented a track system in the main spaces to allow the angles of each light and number of fixtures to be easily adjusted. Other lighting design techniques include a lighting control system to create different atmospheres and light levels, hidden linear illumination to highlight tiles, wallpaper and flooring, along with integrated joinery lighting for added layers of light and decorative pendants that provide accent, while complementing the wider interior scheme.
To accentuate and achieve a true representation of the different products’ finishes, colours and textures all LED light fittings have a high colour rendering index. The final stage of the scheme involved balancing the lighting in each zone and making sure that adjacent spaces worked in harmony together.
