Design IT is a strategic design firm that works to create products, services, systems and spaces. This means that complete visibility and availability of writable walls is important as ideas can form anytime, and anywhere within the office space. In order to address this, the designers kept an open office space that still allowed some private areas for meetings and individual focus rooms. Full height storage units and folding partition surfaces were treated with writable paint to allow for spontaneous discussions.

The client’s preference for hard surface flooring posed increased transfer of sound, which posed a challenge acoustically. To overcome this, the designers introduced a high performing fabric, perforated ceiling from Danoline, and carpeting for added sound absorption. The main feature of the design was having an open ceiling concept to reflect the modern industrial type of setup whilst bringing a homey touch through the use of wooden LVT flooring throughout the working space. This was achieved with a play of the brand’s colours on phonebooths with distinct numbering. The Social Zone, which is connected to the breakout area, serves multi function activities, such as brainstorming, client presentations and events.
